Our Founder.

Dr. Melita T. Stancil (Psychologist, PhD, LPsych)

is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about providing practical and effective treatment that serves the individual as a whole person. Dr. Stancil’s treatment for individuals and families is fueled by results from her own experience, scientific evidence and incorporating the patient’s values. In essence, each patient is cared for as a human being with unique needs. Dr. Stancil received a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical-Community Psychology at the University of South Carolina.

Dr. Stancil integrates a variety of approaches and therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Social Cognition Intelligence Training, Motivational Interviewing, Mentalization, Prolonged Exposure, and Positive Parenting among others. She is also the Creator of the ATILEM® Therapeutic Frame.

In addition to her private clinical work in New York City and national speaking engagements, Dr. Stancil is the author of four peer-reviewed scientific articles, a grant-funded community coalition project, and she has developed intervention for in-patient organizational development.
